Simpson originally spared the details of the graphic murder — insisting that, if he did it, the murderer would only recall the actual deaths as "a blur." But, added Simpson, he would also have full recall after finding himself "standing in the dark listening to the pounding of his own heart" as he

Simpson recounted that's when Charlie whispered: "Jesus Christ, O.J. — what have you done?'" Simpson wrote that he then noticed how
he had left bloody footprints on the ground. The killer quickly stripped off his blood-soaked pants and shirt
before wrapping the knife and his shoes inside them. Simpson then boasted that he was completely calm on the ride back to his Rockingham estate.

But, according to the book, Charlie was terrified. That didn't stop Simpson from handing the bloody bundle to his accomplice while instructing him
to dispose of the grisly evidence. Then, as chronicled by eyewitnesses over the years, Simpson showered before heading out to a waiting chauffeur who drove him to the airport for a flight to Chicago.
