“Loni and Burt couldn’t stand each other after the divorce, and she didn’t seem devastated to learn that he died,” tattled a source. “She has never made a secret of the fact that she felt Burt treated her terribly for most of their marriage, and her acrimonious feelings toward him didn’t go away even after they split up.

“In public, she wants to be civil and not seem disrespectful," the source continued. "But behind closed doors, it’s apparent that she didn’t stop hating Burt throughout the rest of his lifetime — and didn’t try to hide it either.”

Loni, who was wed to the actor from 1988 to 1993, accused Burt of being a drug user and abuser who made her life hell for 12 years. She recalled that shortly after
he’d kicked his painkiller pill-popping, he flew into a jealous rage accusing her of lying about another man and began twisting her wrist.

“‘He’s going to break it,’ I thought,” Loni recalled. “When we got to the house, I saw he had broken the skin … and it was bruised and bleeding.” During another explosive outburst, he threw her to the floor, got a gun and tried to hand it to her, “saying, ‘Here, why don’t you kill yourself and do us all a favor?’” she says.

After the violence, a tearful Burt would beg for forgiveness. In another incident, Burt walked out on Loni, saying he was leaving her to try and
win back his old lover Sally Field. Weeks later, he returned — holding a gun to his head and threatening to kill himself if she didn’t take him back, she says.
