Burt Reynolds — who dreamed of going out in a blaze of “Viking glory,” according to friends — was mourned during a Sept. 19 funeral in West Palm Beach, Fla. As earlier reported by The National ENQUIRER, the beloved “Smokey and the Bandit” star had once told pals that he wanted to be buried in the driver’s seat of a 1977 Pontiac Trans-Am. Instead, Burt was cremated in Fort Lauderdale shortly after the ailing actor’s death on Sept. 6 at age 82, with insiders said his ashes would later be scattered at sea.
