Dying Cher Tries Secret Shock Treatments

Cher — panic-stricken and battling a vicious virus that's eating her alive  —  has resorted to bizarre electroshock treatments and total-body blood transfusions!

“It was all part of a last-ditch effort to stay alive,” a stunned insider told The National ENQUIRER. “Cher is desperate to rid herself of the virus that’s been killing her slowly for years — and she’s going to the ends of the Earth to do it!”

The 71-year-old star has traveled to a clinic in Germany's Black Forest for the controversial blood replacement therapy known as the Regenokine approach. An expert familiar with the process said that the therapy involves siphoning your blood "through artificial electronic filters so that when it returns to your body, it will be pure as the day you were born!”

She’s also undergoing electroencephalography (EEG), wearing a Neuro headset monitoring brain waves and the body. “This is like electroshock treatments, except electrodes sense the electrical activity inside a person’s brain,” says the source, who reveals the therapy was arranged by a prominent TV doctor!

Wearing a crazy-looking Soviet-era style cap filled with electrodes, “she stared at a screen which showed her brainwave activity and neural patterns,” the source explains. “The idea was to try to control the body’s biorhythms through brain waves and biofeedback!”

Cher has grappled with health issues tied to the crippling Epstein-Barr virus since the 1980s. The strength-sapping bug has left the singer in a deep depression and bedridden for months — while wreaking havoc on her heart and kidneys.

“I was sick constantly and almost died from pneumonia,” the "Moonstruck" Oscar winner said. “You never lose it, and it really takes the life out of you.”

Fears for the legendary star exploded when Cher was forced to postpone gigs on her Dressed to Kill Tour in the summer of 2014. And while her reps now insist Cher had recovered from the crisis, sources say that the illness has returned, sending her back to Germany once again!

“Cher is fading fast,” says a source close. “Going to Germany was really a Hail Mary pass to find some sort of miracle cure for the virus that’s killing her.”

The treatments seem to help — for now, say insiders. She’s been performing her Classic Cher show in Las Vegas and Maryland. But she knows she’s not out of the woods, yet. “Cher still has the killer virus inside her,” says the source. “She won’t rest until she finds a cure!"
