Doctors snatched Cher from the Grim Reaper’s clutches in a terrifying — and secret — battle with death in a California hospital!

Sources exclusively told The National ENQUIRER the “Turn Back Time” singer, 70, was so badly ravaged by a deadly virus, she was put in intensive care — where medics barely won a frantic fight for her life!

A member of the legendary diva’s inner circle revealed: “Cher was so sick from a viral infection, she spent time in the ICU!

It was really touch and go,” although Cher’s spokesman insisted the Oscar winner is in fine shape.

Cher also rushed to reassure fans her health was improving after unexpected cancelling shows in Sin City.

On Feb. 20, she tweeted, “I AM Really Doing Everything I Can. I’m going to try & Work out & Sing tomm, So I Won’t be weak & Able to sing, I’m Tuff.”

Shortly later, she announced, “Pushed myself to work out, I Will try & Sing later. Keep good thoughts.”

Dying Cher’s Deathbed Tell-All: The Men In Her Life!

As The ENQUIRER has reported, the “Moonstruck” sensation has been forced to wear a heart monitor!

Now her body is being ravaged by yet another bout with a potentially lethal bug and friends fear this could put her six feet under!

Despite beating death in the ICU, this illness ”could finally spell the death of Cher,” said a source close to the iconic songbird.

“She has been valiantly trying to get better, but it appears she’s fighting a losing battle. Sadly, the end is near!”

The beloved star confessed she’s been battling what she called a “rotten flu.”

The virus even forced her to cancel the “Classic Cher” show at the Park Theater in Las Vegas on Feb. 18 and 19.

The venue claimed she was “on doctor’s orders to rest,” and would return to the stage midweek.

The superstar has struggled with numerous medical issues, including the crippling Epstein-Barr virus, which she contracted in the late ’80s.

Insiders claimed the bug left her bedridden for months, battling depression. Even worse, it wreaked havoc with her heart and kidneys.

Fears for the entertainer exploded when the virus flared up again, forcing her to postpone gigs on her Dressed to Kill tour in the summer of 2014.

“This virus is a killer!” she tweeted to fans on Sept. 13 that year. “I don’t cancel unless I can’t get up.”

Two months later, the tour was axed completely during the ICU scare.

As for her new show, “Cher may have bitten off more than she can chew,” spilled a longtime associate.

“She has 11 costume changes during the show, and that takes a lot out of her. It’s very demanding!”

Cher also has two six-date residencies scheduled at MGM National Harbor in Maryland this spring and summer, and she’s set to return to the Park Theater May 3-20.

But the source said, sadly: “Who knows if she’ll be able to make it that far?
