Only his frail, spindly hands could be seen, clutching his phone with bony fingers. A duffel bag was perched on his lap, and he wore athletic shoes — seemingly only for comfort.

After years of speculation he was battling the dreaded disease, Val recently admitted he had “a healing of cancer” in an online interview in May. Before that, his “The Ghost and the Darkness” co-star Michael Douglas had to quickly apologize after speculating on Val’s health woes.

Michael, who announced his own battle with stage four throat cancer in August 2010, said that Val was “dealing with exactly what I had” — but added his friend’s prospects didn’t look good. Now, revealed a close friend, “Val tends to dress all in black these days, and it’s eerie, like he’s headed to his own funeral.”
