Matt Lauer is still dreaming of a comeback — with The National ENQUIRER catching the disgraced “Today” host crashing a high society event in Long Island! The beaming ex-newsman enthusiastically manned a paddleboat for a Paddle for Pink fundraiser, with money at the August 4 event being raised for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Lauer didn’t hang around for the ceremony afterwards, though. He also soon found himself back on the defense. Just days after his charity appearance, even more shocking accusations emerged that NBC News brass had covered up his sick history of sexual harassment!

NBC News bosses had been roundly mocked after an "investigation" that ended up declaring there was no way any executive could've known about Lauer sexually harassing staffers. But in a new Esquire magazine article blasting the network as a sexist "boys club," former NBC staffer Addie Zinone revealed more shocking stories of Lauer's blatant behavior.

Addie — who once insisted to The ENQUIRER that she and Lauer were "just friends" — told Esquire that she was the “perfect prey” for Matt. Addie also confirms the existence of a button that Lauer could use to lock women inside his office, recalling how he once “pushed the button to shut the door. And then I was like, ‘Matt, [your assistant] is out there’...but it’s like it didn’t matter. I mean, nothing happened. He tried. But I was like, ‘Oh, no. No. No.’”

Addie also revealed that Lauer would use his network email address while chasing women — saying: “It just shows that over a period of time, from my perspective, he either felt entitled or never felt like he was going to be called out or face consequences for it.”

Meanwhile, some insiders believe that Matt might not be delusional in pursuing a career comeback. “Matt says he’s no Harvey Weinstein,” said one source. “He simply had an office affair and now he feels like he’s being treated like a criminal!” Another insider reported a lot of network execs even feel the same way, saying: “They actually believe that if enough time passes, Matt will be forgiven!”
