Addie's boss began to text her in her final months on the job in 2000, she reveals — going from "You look fantastic" to "NOW YOU'RE KILLING ME! YOU LOOK GREAT!" A shocked Addie eventually texted back: "Is someone screwing around with me?" But she soon learned that Lauer was very serious, and he invited her to lunch after Addie said she'd "like to get a little" advice from the star.

"My intentions were purely professional," said Addie, as she met with Lauer for lunch — but noticed he asked her to leave the restaurant separately. Then she texted him back at the studio, when Matt responded: "Meet me." Addie texted back: "Meet you where? Matt, think about this first…
you have a wife."

That didn't matter to Lauer. Addie soon met him in his dressing room for a rushed sexual encounter between 2:42 pm and when Matt's car arrived at 3:00. "It was a consensual encounter," wrote Addie. "It happened in his dressing room above studio 1A, which was empty in the afternoons. He got in his car and I had to go back to work, and now my life had completely changed."

"The last time I saw him that summer" wrote Addie, "was at the 2000 Democratic National Convention in California. The 'Today Show' was live from the Staples Center floor. He was looking at a script, and he leaned over and said to me, “Do you see that bathroom over there? Meet me there in five minutes.” I was leaving and I had no other chance to talk to him. So I went — and we had an encounter. He was like, “Alright. I’ll see you later.”

Addie went on to her new job as a news anchor in West Virginia — only to discover that Lauer's affairs were no secret to The ENQUIRER. It was only weeks after she began her new job, she wrote, that "I get in my driveway and there was a reporter from the National Enquirer waiting for me. Holy crap."

"I reach out to Matt in an email," Addie recalled. "He wrote back, 'Who did you tell?' After that, he completely ghosted me. He left me to handle all this on my own, which I did. I told the National Enquirer that Matt and I were just friends."

As Addie continued in her career — including an Army stint before joining "Access Hollywood" — she found herself continuing to be ignored by Lauer. "Today Show" bosses even blocked her from a guest appearance, she claims. Still, she eventually managed to get on "Today" as a guest. "And," she wrote, "guess who isn’t at work that day?"
