“Hoda started having nightmares of walking down the aisle and not knowing a single person there or the groom missing at the altar,” tattled a pal. “It didn’t help when her friend Kathie Lee Gifford told her rather crassly she was ‘crazy’ to get married.”

Problems at work added to her anxiety, sources said. First, jealousy began to rip apart Hoda’s relationship with 'Today' colleague Kathie Lee. In May, sources said the pair had “been at each other’s throats” since Hoda's promotion to replace the disgraced Matt Lauer.

“There’s been no end to their bickering,” dished a witness. “Kathie Lee believes Hoda saw an opportunity ... and dumped her. Kathie Lee accused Hoda of selling her out. She’s been around a lot longer than Hoda and taught her everything she knows, and Hoda has forsaken her.”

It appeared everything was peachy between Hoda and Joel at the time of her promotion. There was even word that, with her TV gig on the line due to falling ratings, Hoda decided to focus on her personal life — and marry the financial exec!

“Hoda knew she was skating on thin ice at work, so she wanted a safe and loving environment at home,” dished a source. That meant saying “I do” to Joel, and the two planned to elope at an exotic resort after five years of dating!

But “I do” has suddenly turned to “I don’t,” said the insider, who noted the broadcaster may still be rattled by her failed 14-month marriage to tennis stud Burzis Kanga (inset).
