When Donna began watching TV coverage of Casey’s murder trial and saw Caylee’s face, she realized her son was likely Caylee’s father. “I was Google searching and I read that [Caylee’s father] died out of state in 2007. I thought, that’s when Mike died,” Donna told The ENQUIRER.

Caylee’s round face and smile bore a striking resemblance to her son’s, according to Donna. She also claimed she once received a phone call from her son with caller ID that read, “George Anthony.”

“I’m looking at the trial on television and I could hear Mike saying, ‘Casey, Caylee, George, Cindy,’ ” Donna told The ENQUIRER. “That’s when it all dawned on me. I thought, Oh, my God, that’s my granddaughter!”

Caylee’s maternal grandmother, Cindy, reported the two-year-old missing in a 911 call on July 15, 2008, saying she hadn’t seen the tot for 31 days. In the call, a panicked Cindy wailed: “There is something wrong. I found my daughter’s car today and it smells like there’s been a dead body in the damn car.”

After a trial in 2011, a jury found Casey not guilty of first-degree murder, but guilty of four misdemeanor counts of providing false information to a law-enforcement officer. Meanwhile, the woman who believes Caylee was her granddaughter is nursing a broken heart.
