The suits in the News Division made the call after Donald Trump was heard on tape indulging in some crude conversation with Billy back in 2005. That was back when Trump was a Democrat and Billy was hosting "Access Hollywood." Nervous "Today" bosses still made the decision to punish Billy for his own bawdy talk, which could very well save Matt's job!

"Today" host Savannah Guthrie made the announcement about her co-worker being suspended from the show at 7 a.m. on the Monday morning broadcast — ominously adding that things could still get worse for Billy! "Pending further review of the matter, " said Savannah, "NBC News has suspended Billy Bush, the host of ‘Today’s’ third-hour, for his role in that conversation with Donald Trump."
