McMonagle declared that Andrea Constand was telling “a stone-cold lie” when claiming that Cosby had drugged and then sexually assaulted her in 2004, adding that Andrea was actually Cosby's illicit "lover" for at least a year — adding: “It’s a relationship!” Andrea's mother Gianna, who also testified against Cosby, left the courtroom during the accusations made against her daughter.

McMonagle also went after other women who made similar claims against Cosby, dismissing alleged victims such as Victoria Valentino and Linda Kirkpatrick — both present in the courtroom — of being part of a “drumbeat” of allegations from women seeking publicity. “You know why we’re here,” McMonagle sneered. “Let’s be real.”

McMonagle — who at one point apologized for his “Irish-Italian” temper while slamming his hands down on a table — closed by challenging the jurors about how they would judge his celebrity client. He described Cosby as a man “who not only taught us how to smile, but how to love each other no matter what we look like.” McMonagle added: “I’m going to go home and tell my wife, ‘I spent my day trying to right a terrible wrong.' What are you going to say?”
