The claim is made in a new biography of Prince Charles by veteran British journalist Tom Bower — who reports in
Rebel Prince that the Queen was blunt when asked by Charles to
welcome his longtime mistress into the royal family. Bowers writes that Elizabeth declared she wouldn't forgive “that wicked woman,” saying Camilla didn't “leave Charles alone to allow his marriage to recover.”

Still, Charles eventually married Camilla — although Bowers reports that Elizabeth only finally allowed it after the death of her own mother (pictured) in 2002. The journalist adds, however, that Queen Elizabeth wasn't quick to invite Camilla to social engagements. They also weren't allowed to marry in the Church of England, since their affair had broken up both of their marriages.
