The playboy billionaire, who was by Diana’s side during the horrific car crash that led to their deaths 20 years ago on August 31, 1997, spent much of the early ’80s plying celebrity pals with cocaine and other illicit drugs. “Dodi loved Quaaludes, good quality coke and hot women — and he always had plenty!” said Mark Fleischman, owner of the infamous, now-defunct New York City hotspot "Studio 54."

A regular at the star-studded hangout, Dodi would paint the town with the likes of Liza Minnelli, Christopher Reeve, John Belushi, Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, Nick Nolte and Robin Williams. The notorious disco was known for a lot more than dancing! Anonymous sex took place in the balcony, lounges and the area known as the “Rubber Room.” And when the place closed for the night, Dodi and members of the so-called “dawn patrol” would prowl the city’s underbelly in limousines, seeking after-hours fun!

Fueled as they were on the illegal substances provided by Dodi — son of the controversial Egyptian entrepreneur who owned London’s exclusive department store "Harrods" — the gang could stay awake into the wee hours. “Dodi always had the most amazing coke!” says nightlife impresario Mark, author of the scandalous new book, “Inside Studio 54,” which documents his garish, glittering lifestyle alongside Dodi and an endless A-list of actors, rockers, super-models and comedians.

In addition to cocaine, the revelers used ketamine — also known as "Special K" — a powerful anesthetic and sedative that causes amnesia. One especially salacious soiree went on for days! Dodi, who dabbled as a film producer, wanted to celebrate his success with the Oscar-winning Best Picture “Chariots of Fire,” so he invited friends aboard his private jet. They took to the air, and soon all were “flying high” on drugs. Then things really got wild!

“We were being entertained by several very attractive ‘hot to trot’ flight attendants,” Mark recalled. By the time the plane landed and the party continued in a lavish suite at the Plaza Hotel, Mark “lost track of what day it was,” he admited. These crazy episodes all took place years before Dodi and Diana first met in 1997 — and the princess no doubt would have been shocked by the checkered past of her beau!
