Princess Diana’s Secret Love Letters to Prince Charles

Princess Diana and Prince Charles ended their marriage in a storm of sordid affairs and their longtime lovers — and even intimate letters written by the young lovebirds created a royal scandal!

A series of heartbreaking missives from the doomed princess first appeared in 1999 in the UK's Daily Mirror, with Diana confessing early in their marriage that she was desperately lonely with Charles away on a fishing trip. Diana, just 23 and pregnant with Prince Harry, wrote in a girlish script: "I can't stand being away from him!"

Another letter to a relative showed Diana being thrilled to have her husband back from that same trip. "Charles telephoned me to say he was made to be away from [Prince William] and I. He is returning here tonight, which was a wonderful surprise."

Charles described his bride with equally tenderness in a letter from 1983. He's boasting of how Diana handled the spotlight during their tour of Australia, as he wrote: "Diana has done wonderfully, and won everyone's heart!"

But the couple's marital happiness would soon sour — with Charles plunging into an affair with his mistress Camilla, while a tortured Diana took her own lovers while battling bulimia and struggling to survive the royal family's machinations.

Some veteran palace-watchers even believed that Charles had leaked the old correspondence himself, in hopes of showing that his love for Diana was genuine even as he prepared to marry Camilla. Harold Brooks-Baker, who published the aristocrats record "Burke's Peerage," told The ENQUIRER: "Charles and his cronies are giving history a twist!"

"Diana would turn in her grave," he continued, "if she could see these letters being touted now as the way it really was for her and Charles!" But, the insider added: "Diana will forever live in our hearts, and we will not forget!"
