Megyn Kelly Vs. Bryant Gumbel For Matt Lauer’s Job

Matt Lauer was abruptly fired from "Today" over several sickening sex scandals — and now NBC bigwigs are being accused of sexism in a battle between Megyn Kelly and old pro Bryant Gumbel!

Ratings have taken off on "Today" after Lauer's disgraceful departure. But that's brought on new problems for executives who still need to hire a replacement — and have Megyn Kelly gunning for the job. “She was positively giddy with excitement once Matt was fired,” said a show insider, “because she expected to be his replacement!”

But, added the source, now “Megyn's fit to be tied” after learning NBC is looking at Bryant to return as the show gets back to normal. The former FOX News star has only brought in bad ratings since taking over the third hour of "Today" — but she was quick to jump on the Matt- bashing bandwagon, slamming her former co-worker over the accusations of multiple women.

That move didn’t seem to win her any points with the Peacock Network, which immediately reached out to Bryant — who co-hosted "Today" for 15 years from 1982 to 1997. “Megyn’s enraged they would go back to Bryant over her,” says the source. “She’s steaming mad and says it’s sexist. But Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford couldn’t be happier. They all hate her!”
