Marilyn Monroe didn't let her famous marriages keep her from enjoying lesbian love! The legendary sex symbol bedded screen stars like Barbara Stanwyck, Judy Garland, Marlene Dietrich, and Elizabeth Taylor. Hollywood insider Peter Lawford even said, "Monroe's true orientation was toward women!" But the blonde beauty wasn't crazy about every woman that joined her in the sack. That included screen star Joan Crawford — and their lesbian adventure ended in a vicious feud!

During audio tapes made for her psychiatrist Dr. Ralph Greenson, who later became one of her lovers, Marilyn revealed: "We went to Joan's bedroom. Crawford had a gigantic orgasm and shrieked like a maniac. Next time I saw her she wanted another round, and I turned her down." But her close pal Peter, who arranged Marilyn's intimate nights with the Kennedys, confided: "Marilyn decided not to have a long affair with Crawford because she didn't trust Joan, who could be cruel and demanding and hated being shown up by another woman.

"Marilyn made the right decision," the Rat Packer recalled. "Joan became particularly spiteful after Marilyn refused to go to bed with her again. She said absolutely vicious things about Marilyn whenever she got the chance. Crawford went out of her way to be nasty." Marilyn recalled her rebuff in her shrink sessions: "I told her straight out that I didn't much enjoy doing it with a woman. After I turned her down, she became spiteful."

Marilyn sanitized the story of her encounter with Joan in her autobiography, saying that their feud began after she rejected the older star's fashion advice. She wrote about meeting Joan at a church, with Joan asking after services, "Would you like to come to my house with me?" Marilyn wrote: "I said I'd like to very much. I was excited at what I thought was going to happen...we had lunch in the kitchen with Miss Crawford's four children and a beautiful white poodle. After lunch, Miss Crawford asked me to come upstairs to her room."

From there, Marilyn's official story claimed she had rebuffed Joan's offer to help her be less "vulgar" in her wardrobe choices — adding that Joan later publicly criticized Marilyn's"burlesque show" to the press after she wore a skintight dress to an Academy Awards ceremony. "The truth," wrote Marilyn, "is my tight dress and my wiggling were all in Miss Crawford's mind. She obviously had been reading too much about me." In truth, however, Marilyn was covering for how Joan was still a woman scorned!

Marilyn, incidentally, wasn't the only target of Joan's frustration over lesbian lust. The "Mildred Pierce" star was also hot for Bette Davis, even though their own feud started when Bette lost handsome star Franchot Tone to her Hollywood rival. The two stars later battled on the set of "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" — but Joan wasn't shy about admitting that Bette caught her eye. "Franchot isn't interested in Bette," Joan said to longtime pal Jerry Asher, "but I wouldn't mind giving her a poke!"
