Candice got the message, too. She broke up with her boyfriend and fled to Mexico to do a film. A year and a half later, prosecutors arranged for both Terry and Candice to testify about their Manson connection.

By then, Terry had hired 24-hour security for himself, and required sedatives to take the stand. Candice reportedly said to Terry: “It could have been me,” to which Melcher replied: “It could have been us.”
