Although Jane seemed calm and collected when talking to the press, insiders told The National ENQUIRER that the “Klute” star is crippled with fear that the world will never see her glamorous smile again!

“I don’t normally go around like this,” she told the press. “I thought it was going to heal in time before I came.”

But Jane is far from healed — and a source close to the “Barbarella” beauty said she is totally “freaked out that there will be permanent scarring. She also believes that her career may be in jeopardy because no one will want to work with her looking like this.”

The aging actress has been declining since kicking record producer boyfriend Richard Perry to the curb a year ago. “Jane is in bad shape, emotionally and physically,” an insider squealed. “Richard grounded her. Without Richard, Jane doesn’t take care of herself.”

And this isn’t her first bout with cancer. Jane had a small tumor removed from her breast in 2010. New York internist Dr. Stuart Fischer said “skin cancer is curable — if they catch it early enough,” but believes Jane has good reason to fear being disfigured.

Skin cancer cells are “often burned off,” explained the doctor, who has not treated the “9 to 5” star. But Jane’s cancer was “sliced off with a scalpel, which is a very delicate procedure” that could lead to “scar tissue or cause permanent nerve damage” — or even spread!

He warned: “That would only make things worse.”
