Elvis Died Pleading With Priscilla To Return

Elvis Presley died desperately hoping for a final reunion with his ex-wife Priscilla — the former Army brat who moved into his Graceland mansion when she was still in high school!

A friend of Priscilla's confided to The National ENQUIRER that, only a week before his death, Elvis' ex-wife had said: "He's always calling me to tell me he loves me and wants me to come back to Memphis. He's always saying how sick he is, and that he needs me."

Priscilla — who had married Elvis in 1969, when she was 21 — had been vacationing at the posh La Costa resort south of Los Angeles at the time, and was reportedly mulling over a return to Graceland. Tragically, however, there was soon no decision to be made.

Elvis passed away on August 16, 1977 — with one longtime confidante agreeing that The King had spent his final days consumed by thoughts of Priscilla. On the day of Elvis' death, longtime road manager Joe Esposito said: "After his mother died, and then when Priscilla left him, Elvis didn't care whether he lived or died."

Elvis had tried to move on, however. He began dating Linda Thompson after his divorce from Priscilla in 1973. A string of Southern beauty queens followed.

Priscilla pursued romance from her new home in Beverly Hills — including a relationship with future O.J. Simpson defense attorney Robert Kardashian.

Meanwhile, Elvis had invited his new girlfriend Ginger Alden to move into Graceland shortly before his death. She had been sporting an 11-carat diamond ring. Eyewitnesses told The ENQUIRER that Priscilla and Ginger hugged each other when Elvis' ex flew to Graceland on the day after Elvis' death.

The two had become close when Priscilla had flown to Elvis' side twice in 1976 as the drugged-out rock icon suffered through health issues. Priscilla — as the mother of Lisa Marie Presley — then took over Elvis Presley Enterprises and turned Graceland into one of America's leading tourist attractions. Ginger, meanwhile, wasn't even in Elvis' will!

Shirley Dieu, the longtime girlfriend of Esposito, also recalled Priscilla talking about how badly Elvis wanted Lisa Marie to have "her mom and dad together." She asked: “Who knows what might have happened had she said 'yes' immediately to his final plea to her to come back?”
