Bill Cosby has finally spoken out from behind bars — but the visitors delivering his bizarre message didn’t include his wife! Instead, Camille Cosby stayed home while Cosby’s longtime publicists Ebonee Benson and Andrew Wyatt went to visit their jailbird boss at the State Correctional Institute — Phoenix in Pennsylvania. The spokespeople then gave exclusive comments to the National Newspaper Publishers Association newswire, which is dedicated to “a network of African-American–owned community newspapers.” Wyatt explained that the disgraced comic requested the outlets because “the mainstream media is continuing its efforts to try and stop him from getting the facts out.” Wyatt then added that Cosby “said to look at the facts: ‘I shouldn’t be here, but I’m here…’”

The spokesperson also revealed that Cosby is now sporting a full beard behind bars, and
has been counseling fellow prisoners. “He has been able to speak with other inmates about their situation and impart advice,” said Wyatt. “Mr. Cosby loves hearing other stories of the inmates — whom he calls residents...He tells them, ‘You don’t have to swear or curse, this is what you do.’’”

Also, said Wyatt, Cosby told him that “
Malcolm X,
Martin Luther King Jr. and
Nelson Mandela helped him prepare for this chapter of his life,” adding: “He said they told him that if he was going to continue to fight for civil rights, something like this was bound to happen, and he’s been prepared for it. And he knows
he’s in prison not for rape, but for infidelity. He knows he’s innocent and he’s kept his head up.”
