Give her some space! Troubled pop princess Britney Spears shared a message on Instagram with fans on Tuesday, April 23, begging everyone to back off so she can deal with her personal issues.
“Just checking in with all of you who are concerned about me,” Spears said in the video, her blonde hair disheveled and with dark circles around her eyes. “My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I just need time to deal, but don’t worry, I’ll be back very soon.”
The 37-year-old, who checked into a mental health treatment facility in late March, explained the situation more in the caption. “Things that are being said have just gotten out of control!!! There’s rumors, death threats to my family an my team, and just so many crazy things being said,” she declared, hinting at the online rumors that suggested she was being held in a facility against her will. Don’t believe everything you read and hear.”
She also mentioned “fake emails everywhere” that have surfaced. Spears claims the messages to her team from 2007 were written by Sam Lutfi, her shady ex-manager, and that “he was pretending to be me.”
Though Spears is grateful for her fans’ support, she said she wants to tackle her problems on her own. “You may not know this about me, but I am strong, and I stand up for what I want!” she reminded followers. “Your love and dedication is amazing, but what I need right now is a little bit of privacy to deal with all the hard things that life is throwing my way.”
One of those challenges is her career. The pop princess put her Vegas residency on an indefinite hold in early January, explaining that she needed to care for dad Jamie Spears as he dealt with his health scare. And with her latest 30-day stay in treatment for her mental health issues, an insider told Radar Online that she’s afraid it’ll “kill her career.”
“She is ashamed and knows people are saying her breakdown was brought on by her dad’s declining health,” the insider claimed.
