Britney Spears is struggling — again. Though the troubled pop princess checked in to a mental health facility in late March to battle demons that arose after her dad Jamie’s health suddenly and drastically declined, she’s facing a lot of fears. Chief among them is the future of her once-thriving career.

Spears “is terrified” that yet another stay in rehab for mental health issues is going to “kill her career,” a source told Radar Online. Making concerns over her career worse, the 37-year-old star had been on a break from work, putting her Vegas residency on hold even prior to her latest 30-day stay at a treatment center.

“She is ashamed and knows people are saying her breakdown was brought on by her dad’s declining health,” the insider also claimed to Radar.

“She’s been devastated over the prospect of losing her dad. He’s always been her rock, and seeing him seriously ill has shattered her,” another source previously told Us Weekly. “After Jamie’s recent surgery, she found herself so full of anxiety and panic, she didn’t know who to turn to or what to do. she’s been spiraling and feeling lost.”

Her dad, 66, has been the star’s conservator since 2008, after the performer suffered major public meltdowns, which included shaving her head and beating a paparazzo’s car with an umbrella. She was also placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold in 2008, and later revealed in her 2013 documentary I Am Britney Jean that she has bipolar disorder.

After news of her latest stay in a treatment center for mental health broke on April 3, the music icon posted a message promoting self-care on Instagram. “We all need to take time for a little ‘me time,’” she captioned an image that read “fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit.”
