Meghan Markle’s estranged father was “heartbroken” to see news his sixth grandchild had been born — over a lonely junk food breakfast.
Thomas Markle, 74 — cut off by his duchess daughter after posing for paparazzi photographs ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry last May — stocked up on fried chicken and other fatty food ahead of the baby’s arrival.
And pals of the former Hollywood lighting director say he was “stunned and heartbroken” to see breaking news his daughter had gone into labor 5,500 miles away from his humble home in Mexico.
A friend added: “He’s as devastated as any grandfather would be who isn’t being given the chance to see his grandchild.
“But the heartbreak is even more intense for him as it is going to be one of the most famous children in the world.
“He’s still devastated Meghan still hasn’t spoken to him since before her wedding, and the arrival of this child is more than bittersweet for him — it’s heartbreaking.”
Thomas’ yoga instructor ex-wife Doria Ragland, 62, has been at Meghan’s side in Windsor since last week as her daughter prepared to give birth.
But Thomas — who says he had a heart operation at the time of Meghan’s wedding and who watched the ceremony alone while eating Jello — has been seen looking “unwell” according to locals of his small Mexican town Rosarito as he picked up fast food last week.
Along with his heartbreak at being frozen out by Meghan, he is surrounded by reminders of the arrival of his grandchild at home — as a bar in Rosarito is celebrating the arrival of the royal baby with a brand of gin called Royal MOM, advertised at one of its bars.
