Sandra Harris (pictured) was abducted from her home in Washington State, with FBI agents frantically negotiating for her release — only for the 69-year-old woman to be found dead after the ransom was dead. The resident of Kennewick, Wash., was reported missing on Nov. 18. A call was then made from her cell phone to Sandra’s husband Randy. Authorities haven’t said how much money was being asked to have Sandra returned.

A payment was made shortly before 10 pm that same night — with the exchange quickly followed by a SWAT team arresting Theresa Wiltse, 49, while she was driving a rental car with California platers. She was alone in the vehicle. The alleged kidnapper would not discuss Sandra’s fate, however.

Finally, on Nov. 21, a driver found Sandra’s corpse on the side of Coffin Road — about 20 miles from her home. Police have not released the cause of death.

Kennewick Police Sgt. Ken Lattin said: “This was not a random act…We’re not exactly sure what the nature of the relationship was, but this was not random.” The authorities have said that Wiltse may not have been acting alone. Randy Harris owns the Ace Pawn Shop in Kennewick, and had recently been speaking out about the importance of a a state-wide database to prevent criminals from pawning stolen merchandise.
