Heidi Montag’s comeback on The Hills: New Beginnings blew up in her face — when reports emerged her father was convicted of sexually assaulting a child!

Former ski youth instructor Bill Montag, 72, was arrested in 2015, and court documents reveal he pleaded guilty to a felony charge of child abuse in August 2016.

“This is such an ugly case! It couldn’t have come at a worse time for her,” dished an insider.

The probable cause affidavit for Bill’s arrest warrant in Colorado, obtained by The National ENQUIRER, details sexual abuse on a female between 1996 and 1998.

The victim, Bill’s stepdaughter Carissa Berlet, opened up to a therapist in 2013 and told authorities Bill abused her on more than 50 occasions beginning when she was just 13 years old.

Bill initially denied the allegations but changed his plea to guilty. He was sentenced to four years’ probation as many of her allegations couldn’t be prosecuted due to the statute of limitations.

Carissa said: “I was shocked at his plea, but I don’t feel like justice was served. I wanted my day in court.” Carissa has a permanent restraining order against Bill, who is still married to her mother, Terri O’Hara.

Bill walked Heidi, 32, down the aisle when she married Spencer Pratt in 2009. The couple appeared on MTV’s The Hills from 2006 to 2010.
