Tom Cruise Wants Gina Rodriguez As His Real-Life Love Interest

Tom Cruise is hot to cast "Jane the Virgin" star Gina Rodriguez for his upcoming "Top Gun 2" flick, and spies told a source for The National ENQUIRER that he wants the spicy Latina for more than just a movie leading lady!

“He’s totally crushing on her,” blabbed a snitch. “Gina has really captivated Tom with her beauty and star potential.”

Insiders compared his interest in Gina to his heat over Nicole Kidman when he plucked the beauty from obscurity to star with him in his 1990 race-car flick "Days of Thunder." Nicole and Tom’s romantic scenes in the flick boiled over into real life and the pair got hitched.

Now Tom — single again and on the prowl — is set to begin filming the long-awaited follow-up to the 1986 action fave in July, and costar Gina has struck his fancy.

“It also doesn’t hurt that Gina comes highly recommended by Tom’s longtime friend Peter Berg, who gave her a huge role in 'Deepwater Horizon,'” notes a source. The snitch calls the Tom-Gina pairing “a match made in heaven” and predicts “Cruise will make her a movie star — and maybe a whole lot more.”
