Rosie O’Donnell was able to keep one big secret over the summer — as she secretly became engaged to Worcester, Mass., cop Elizabeth Rooney! Insiders have told RADAR Online that the comic didn’t waste any time deciding to marry the blonde beauty, either. The National ENQUIRER had the scoop when the couple began dating in November, with Rosie meeting the police officer while filming “SMILF,” her cable TV series. “I am in love,” Rosie confirmed at the time, adding: “It’s the first time I’ve dated someone younger than me, and it’s a very trippy thing.” Rosie had also insisted that she wasn’t looking to get married again, but it seems that true love conquered the couple’s 22-year age difference. Sources reported to RADAR that the controversial comic had proposed by summer, but noted: “Elizabeth is in the police force, so she tries to keep a lot of those details on the low…”

The new romance began shortly after Rosie was accused of snatching away Broadway actress Dana Caruso Schiff — who had filed for divorce from her millionaire husband! At the time, her new gal's close friends were worried that Rosie would turn into a heartbreaker again, with an insider worrying: “Elizabeth is a good person!”
