Schrade, 93, was one of five other people wounded in the melee, but showed up in the assassin's defense to say: "I forgive you for shooting me!" But that didn't impress the parole board, who was meeting with Sirhan for the first time since 2011 for the shocking assassination at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles on June 5, 1968.

Sirhan earlier recorded a confession in police custody, but now says he doesn't remember shooting Kennedy just hours after the candidate won the California Democratic presidential primary.
Robert Kennedy Jr. has now joined Schrade in calling for a new investigation, saying: “I think it would have disturbed [RFK] if somebody was put in jail for a crime they didn’t commit.”
