"Juice," said Chandler, who passed away from cancer in Jan. 1995. "Unbelievable, dude. Chicago. You should have hung out. You should have bailed. You should have been on the boat by now...Should have just got away."

But authorities were convinced Simpson really wanted Cowlings to drive him to the Mexican border, where he planned to disappear with the $7,000 in cash that he was carrying.

Simpson also had his passport and a fake beard and mustache in the car. Thanks to Chandler's bizarre voice mail, said the police insider, cops were ready to go in pursuit when the disgraced football star failed to surrender to authorities on the morning of June 17, 1994.
