their yacht, Splendour, Wagner made a string of suspicious telephone calls to the Los Angeles/Long Beach U.S. Coast Guard base in San Pedro, Calif., investigative book writer

“There is evidence Robert Wagner called the Coast Guard to find out about search and rescue procedures,” Rulli revealed. “He wanted to know exactly what happens when someone is reported missing from a boat! I’m confident Natalie Wood’s death was not spur of the moment — it was in the works for months!”

The chilling revelation may explain why wily Wagner forced the yacht’s captain,
Dennis Davern, to wait
four hours before calling the U.S. Coast Guard after Natalie disappeared! Natalie was on a Thanksgiving weekend voyage with Wagner and her “Brainstorm” co-star,
Christopher Walken, when she died.

According to the boat’s skipper, Natalie’s boozed-up hubby
exploded in a jealous rage at Walken, smashing a bottle of wine on a table and screaming: “Do you want to f--- my wife?” When Davern heard the commotion, he went to see what had happened.

At this point, he said, Wagner was in the yacht’s salon yelling: “Natalie’s gone! She’s missing!” Wagner ordered the captain to search the 60-foot pleasure palace, which Davern branded “suspicious.” During the search the ship’s dinghy was gone — and her body was found floating in the ocean the next day!

“No one heard the dinghy start up. No one heard the dinghy take off. It didn’t add up.” Wagner has repeatedly refused to cooperate with investigators — even after
autopsy and death-scene evidence was reviewed in 2011. After that investigation, the cause of Natalie’s death was changed from accidental drowning to “undetermined.”

Investigators now believe Natalie entered the water unconscious! “
Classic assault wounds strewn across her body” were almost entirely ignored in the original 1981 autopsy, Rulli told The ENQUIRER. “A facial abrasion with an upward direction indicates Natalie was dragged across the nonskid surface of the yacht’s aft deck!”

Rulli claimed Wagner tried to buy the yacht skipper’s silence after the tragedy. “He made sure his every need was taken care of because he wanted to keep him close,” she said. But Davern (center) later told Rulli he “couldn’t carry the guilt” and went to the police with the real story of what happened that terrible night.
