Robert Wagner remains a "person of interest" in the suspicious death of screen legend Natalie Wood — as Lt. John Corina of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirms troubling new developments in the ongoing homicide investigation!

Corina first went public with Wagner as a "person of interest" in March 2015 — telling The National ENQUIRER that the determination was made after the L.A. Coroner's Office had changed the cause of Natalie's 1981 death from "accidental drowning" to "drowning and other undetermined factors." Three years later, Corina's gone to CBS News to blast Wagner for still refusing to cooperate with authorities!

As earlier covered by The ENQUIRER, Natalie's initial autopsy was marked by charges of incompetence and a cover-up. "As we've investigated the case over the last six years," Corina told CBS' "48 Hours" news show, "I think he's more of a person of interest now. I mean, we know now that he was the last person to be with Natalie before she disappeared."

Corina also blasts Natalie's famous husband for refusing to talk to police. "I haven't seen him tell the details that match all the other witnesses in this case," says Corina. "I think he's constantly changed his story a little bit. And his version of events just don't add up." Natalie's sister agrees, as caught on a bombshell video where she confronted Wagner!

As seen here, Lana Wood confronted the former “Hart to Hart” star — who didn’t know he was being secretly videotaped in a National ENQUIRER/RADAR Online investigation when Lana hit him with the bombshell challenge: “Why won’t you speak to the detectives?” Barked Wagner, “Lana, why would you even bring up anything like that?...I have talked to everybody … You have accused me of murdering her!”

But, as seen in Corina's new interview with CBS, homicide detectives don't agree with Wagner's claim. "Do you believe Robert Wagner knows a lot more about what happened to his wife than he's ever said?" he's asked — with Corina replying: "Well, I think he does, because he's the last one to see her!"
