Michael Douglas thinks it would be a great idea to reunite with his sexy “Basic Instinct” co-star, Sharon Stone, and friends say Catherine Zeta-Jones — his wife of 17 years — is seething with jealousy and will do whatever it takes to stop him!

“If a project between them does get off the ground, Catherine will be watching them like a hawk,” a source confided to The National ENQUIRER. “But rest assured she will do everything in her power to make sure it never happens! The last thing she wants is competition from a woman as beautiful as Sharon!”

Insiders revealed the actor-producer — who has weathered health woes recently but, back in 1992, steamed up the screen with Sharon — has been binge-watching her HBO series, “Mosaic” (alongside Devin Ratray), since it premiered in January! “The wheels in his head are turning,” our source whispered.

“Seeing her look so amazing has inspired him to reach out to her again about reconnecting as co-stars!” Added a pal: “Catherine knows all about their old chemistry and doesn’t want to let Michael have the chance to see if it’s still there!”
