Authorities were immediately on the hunt for Danley after 59 people were slaughtered in Stephen Paddock's bloody shooting spree at an outdoor Jason Aldean concert in Las Vegas. Within hours, however, police clarified that Paddock's female companion was not a suspect in the shootings, and was out of the country. Since then, however, troubling questions have been raised about the mystery woman.

Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of Clark County in Nevada confirmed that Danley is once again a "person of interest," saying: "The investigation with her is ongoing." As seen here, Danley surprised several onlookers by returning from her native Philippines while in a wheelchair — shortly after it was revealed that Paddock had transferred $100,000 to the islands before his killing spree.

Interpol had cooperated in returning Danley to the U.S., after Paddock had blown his brains out when cops stormed the Las Vegas suite he'd made into a sniper's nest. She returned to the country the day after Sheriff Lombardo said of Paddock: “This person may have been radicalized, unbeknownst to us, and we want to identify that source.”

Eric Paddock, meanwhile, insisted his brother had a loving relationship with the former high-stakes Vegas hostess. "They were adorable," he said. "Big man, tiny woman. He loved her. He doted on her." But others reported a darker side to their relationship.

An employee of the couple's local Starbucks in their home of Mesquite, Nev., told the Los Angeles Times: "“He would glare down at her and say with a mean attitude, ‘You don’t need my casino card for this. I’m paying for your drink, just like I’m paying for you.’ Then she would softly say, ‘Okay’ and step back behind him. He was so rude to her in front of us.”

Danley has also become the focus of several theories attempting to explain Paddock's horrific shooting spree. Video of an anti-Trump rally in Reno, Nev., reportedly shows Danley and Paddock attending together — although her Facebook page, quickly deleted in the hours after the shootings, was totally apolitical.

Danley's identity is also a shifting mystery — with Newsweek reporting [in a report since retracted] that she had been married to two men at once. Children of Geary Danley, a former husband, are standing by their former stepmother. "She is a good and gentle person," one of Geary's daughters said in a statement, "and I know she has to be devastated by what has happened."
