Gwen Stefani was an emotional wreck as she left a Beverly Hills medical building, leaving pals terrified the heartbroken beauty may have lost the miracle baby she made with "The Voice" hunk Blake Shelton!

The pop star, who has three sons with Gavin Rossdale, has been secretly getting IVF fertility treatments, The National ENQUIRER learned from insiders. But her choked-up appearance outside the doctor’s office on Jan. 24 led friends to fear she learned she’d suffered a miscarriage.

“Gwen was trying really hard not to cry, but anyone could see something was upsetting her. It was as if she’d been told something terrible — and she broken down,” said an eyewitness.

Losing a baby could be devastating, friends said, because Gwen hoped to start a new life and family with Blake, who had childless marriages to Miranda Lambert and Kaynette Williams. “This has been a dream of Gwen and Blake’s since the early days of their relationship after meeting on The Voice,” The ENQUIRER learned from an insider.

“They were so focused on having kids they put everything else aside, including their plans for a big wedding," the insider said. “Everyone was excited they were finally making it a reality and starting a family together, but now they’re terrified something bad has happened.”

A miscarriage would be especially shattering to 48-year-old Gwen, whose biological clock is running out and the love child “seemed like her last chance,” says a friend. Pals also fear without a baby to anchor their family, the couple’s romance could shatter.

“Gwen must be beside herself and worrying about what it will mean for their relationship if she can’t give Blake a baby,” the insider claims. “But Blake has helped her mend a broken heart before, and he already feels like her sons are part of his family. Everyone just wants her to be happy.”
