Marjorie Bamont was charged with animal cruelty in 2014 when 14 live cats — and a dead one — were found in the house. Shocked officers also found the home covered with cat feces and crawling with fleas. Bamont was convicted, and died two years later. That's when Albert stepped in to pay $850,000 to restore the wrecked estate and make it a tribute to his screen-legend mom.

“I’m very happy to have saved this old family home from a near certain death or development,” said the prince, with his mom's house finally updated after decades of a plaque billing it as “The Kelly Family House.” The son of the movie-star-turned-queen added: “The house was very beautiful, and very special to our family.”
