The funeral for former first lady Nancy Reagan began with the front row packed with political dignitaries, including current first lady Michelle Obama, as well as Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, Roslyn Carter and former first daughter (and current ambassador to Japan) Caroline Kennedy. Nancy died on March 6, and will be laid to rest next to her beloved Ronnie at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif.

Former President George W. Bush was also seated in the first row. W was the only representative of the executive branch since — as The National ENQUIRER reported — current President Barack Obama did not attend because he was in Texas to deliver a speech to the South by Southwest conference.

"He wrote her every single night,” James recalled for guests, including Larry King and his wife Shawn. “When they were together, he hid her love notes around the house to find. She saved his love notes in a shopping bag in his closet."
