Donald Trump would never have run for president had it not been for the encouragement of his wife,
Melania! In an exclusive interview, the billionaire real estate mogul and “Celebrity Apprentice” creator told
The National ENQUIRER: “For years I would ask her whether or not I could run and win. And she would say, ‘Donald, people love you, but they wouldn’t vote for you for president … you’re a little wild and a little too controversial.’"

“But," added the candidate, "as she’s watching political news on television and seeing all the things that are wrong with our country, she looks at me and says, ‘Darling, you know you’d win if you ran, don’t you? People really need you. I see it on the streets!’”

The ENQUIRER then learned the secrets behind the woman who'll be at Donald's side as he finally moves into the White House! The candidate, 69, told The ENQUIRER: “My wife Melania would make a terrific first lady. She is a good person and a phenomenal mother. She’s proud to be an American citizen, and she sees the problems we face in this country.”

The Slovenian-born beauty, 45, who married Donald in 2005 to become his third wife, is not shy about expressing her opinions. “To marry a man like Donald, you need to know who you are,” she said in an exclusive interview. “And you need to be very strong and smart ... I’m my own person. I’m not a 'Yes' person. So I tell it as it is.”

Melania, who became a naturalized American citizen in 2006, is 100 percent behind Donald’s outspoken stance against illegal immigration into the U.S. “I went through a whole long process [to become a citizen],” she said. “I think people should follow the law!”

The towering 5'11" former model will also balance her new duties while parenting their 9-year-old son, Barron, and running a successful jewelry and cosmetics empire. “You need to be very organized and very quick, and just very on-your-toes all the time,” Melania revealed.

And the secret to her successful marriage with Donald? “It’s a lot of responsibility for a woman to be married to a man like my husband,” she said. “I need to be quick, smart and intelligent.” In that same spirit, Melania already has a vision of herself as First Lady: “I would be very traditional, like Betty Ford or
Jackie Kennedy. I would support my husband.”
