Broke Bill Cosby Fires Defense Team In Bid To Beat Prison Time

Bill Cosby is broke and desperate to beat a prison sentence after being found guilty of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in 2004 at his Pennsylvania mansion — so he's fired his big-bucks legal team and brought in a local attorney!

RADAR Online was first to reveal that Cosby had fired the high-priced defense team that couldn't get him off the hook after a second trial. That included kinky lawyer Thomas Mesereau Jr. — who'd once  once successfully defended Michael Jackson on seven counts of sexually abusing children. But now Cosby has signed on with local lawyer Joseph P. Green.

"There are complicated legislative and constitutional issued unique to Pennsylvania law that have to be addressed prior to sentencing," said Green in a statement confirming RADAR's scoop. But while the new move may improve Cosby's chance of beating prison, locals say it's also a sign of Cosby's financial troubles, with one insider noting that Green "has never done a case this high profile!"
