Barbara Walters' ongoing health woes have turned the legendary TV-news dynamo into a sickly, wheelchair-bound recluse.,
The National ENQUIRER has learned! The ailing media star even suffered the indignity of being rejected after recently asking to make an appearance on “The View” — as producers kept her from taking a final bow on the show that she co-created!
“She’s becoming hard to work with because she doesn’t remember her lines and then she gets mad about it!” a source told the ENQUIRER. “Producers had to spoon-feed her words, and even the names of guests, through an earpiece she’s required to wear,” spills a show insider about an earlier appearance. “Without the device, she’d be a blithering idiot!” Staffers sometimes would “wheel her into the show and she would stand up for the cameras. But now she’s completely wheelchair-bound,” the first source confesses.

Barbara’s pals are worried because she hasn’t been seen in public since July, and she even skipped the 20th anniversary episode of “The View” in November 2016. Although a rep denies any health issues, a second source reveals, “Barbara just doesn’t seem like herself. She’s had heart issues, head injuries from falls, and problems remembering. There’s talk she’s suffering from Alzheimer’s.” A glamorous fixture of New York City nightlife scene for half a century, Barbara has disappeared from public events. “People fear she’s got just three months to live,” a source told The ENQUIRER.

Workaholic Barbara’s health began plummeting in May 2010, after heart surgery for a faulty valve. Three years later she was hospitalized after a nasty tumble at a Washington, D.C., party that left her with a bloodied face! Still, worries about her mental health only came to public light following several stunning on-air memory gaffes she made in return visits to “The View,” which she had retired from in 2014.

And in recent years, Barbara has become shockingly more risqué in her demented state! During her “10 Most Fascinating People of 2015” interview with “American Sniper” star Bradley Cooper, she crudely blurted out, “
I find you very screwable.” In 2014, Barbara admitted on-air to owning a vibrator, lustily announcing, “You know what it’s called? A selfie!”
In September, 2016, she suffered heart palpitations and was rushed to the hospital while preparing for a “major plastic surgery overhaul.” “It’s sad,” the second source says. “She’s all alone in that ritzy Manhattan apartment, and she really needs help getting around. Everyone feels bad for her.”
