Ava Gardner: The Night She Humiliated Sinatra

Sultry star Ava Gardner had macho womanizer Frank Sinatra wrapped around her finger — and made sure the "My Way" singer did things her way!

A new book reveals screen siren Ava was so demanding, she ordered smitten Frank to prove he had asked his wife Nancy for a divorce. Instead of telling Ava to wait and see, love-struck Ol’ Blue Eyes drove home with his mistress in tow and rang the buzzer.

“Nancy, will you please tell Ava that I’ve asked you for a divorce?” weaselly Sinatra asked, humiliating the mother of his three kids! Furious Nancy, shown here with Frank and her soon-to-be-abandoned brood (Tina, Nancy and Frank, Jr.) , later lashed out at Ava over the incident, saying: “She was a real bitch!”

"The Barefoot Contessa" beauty married and divorced Mickey Rooney and bandleader Artie Shaw before getting hot and heavy with Frank in 1949. And while homewrecker Ava forced Frank to dump his wife of 10 years, she refused to give up her own wild ways — even after Frank, then 35, married the 28-year-old sexpot in 1951!

Kendra Bean and Anthony Uzarowski’s biography, Ava, "A Life in Movies," reveals career gal Ava had two abortions while wed to Frank! After the first, Frank said: “I shoulda beaten her f**king brains out for what she did to me and the baby, but I loved her too much.”

Ava cheated on Sinatra during their rocky union — with plenty of one-night affairs including a lesbian hookup with actress Lana Turner (left)! Ultimately, Frank and Ava divorced in Mexico after six volatile years of marriage.

They “loved each other deeply,” says Frank’s daughter Tina, “but at that point nothing mattered more than their careers.”
