Tom Petty is dead at the age of 66, as confirmed by his longtime manager — just days after The National ENQUIRER caught the rocker looking shockingly frail in Beverly Hills!

Fans who’d seen his acclaimed final shows were shocked to learn that Tom had been found in full cardiac arrest at his Malibu, Calif., home on the night of Oct. 1 — with doctors deciding to remove life support after he had been rushed to a hospital.

Tom had shown no signs of illness while thrilling fans with hard-rocking performances of hits like “Free Fallin'” and “The Waiting.” (He’s seen at right during a May 2017 show.)

But the rocker looked unsteady when The ENQUIRER found him struggling to get to his doctor’s office on Sept. 12 — and had recently warned fans about his own health fears!

He had already announced that his band’s 2017 tour “might be the last big one”. The ENQUIRER’s shocking photos of the veteran rocker make that claim tragically easy to believe!

Tom died at 8:40 p.m. PT after earlier reports that of his passing — after the Los Angeles Police Department seemingly confirmed his death, then saying that “initial information was inadvertantly [sic] provided to some media sources.”
