Just a month after The National ENQUIRER covered the shocking drug charges against Peyton Manning, the Denver Broncos quarterback is officially being investigated by league executives!

This makes the second season in a row that one of the NFL’s premiere quarterbacks is going into the Super Bowl while being investigated by the league for breaking rules!

HGH, which is banned by the league, is believed to help athletes recover from injuries faster. At the time of the alleged delivery Peyton was struggling to return from neck and shoulder surgeries while playing for the Indianapolis Colts.

The investigation was sparked last month, when Al Jazeera reported that an intern, identified as Charles Sly, at an Indianapolis anti-aging clinic was taped suggesting that Peyton’s wife, Ashley, received deliveries of HGH.

Charles has since recanted the story, and Peyton has said the accusation is “complete garbage.”

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the “comprehensive review” began weeks ago, and involves interviews and reviews of records.

Last year, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was accused of using underinflated balls in the AFC Championship game — a scandal that became known as “Deflategate.”

The investigation was not completed before the Super Bowl, so Tom was able to lead his team to victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

Last summer Tom was punished with a four-game suspension — which readers of The ENQUIRER know his supermodel wife, Gisele Bündchen welcomed — but it was overturned on appeal.

There is no timetable for the NFL to complete its current probe of Peyton, so it’s not expected to keep him out of Super Bowl 50 — his fourth — against the Carolina Panthers on Feb. 7.

Peyton, who turns 40 in March, is a five-time league Most Valuable Player and will be the oldest quarterback to compete in a Super Bowl. He won the Super Bowl MVP trophy in Super Bowl XLI in 2007.
