David Bowie: Shocking Secrets The Glam-Rocker Took To His Grave!

The world is still in shock over the death of rock star David Bowie, who kept his cancer a secret before dying at the age of 69 on January 10. The wild rocker also shocked plenty of people during his life, and became notorious as one of the most decadent rock stars of the 1970s. He may have ended his career as a respected artist who was married to his supermodel wife Iman for over 20 years, but the bisexual rock star helped to pioneer all kinds of rock 'n roll excesses. The ENQUIRER was there to document those wild moments, too, as we look back at Bowie's most bizarre secrets...

Tina Turner and David Bowie had a wild and crazy time in the bedroom — but Tina didn't start out interested in the bisexual rocker when they first met. In fact, she even tried to set him up with other women. According to Tina's longtime assistant Eddy Hampton, the doorbell rang at Tina's hotel suite late one night in 1984: "Tina had been getting ready for bed. She ran to the bathroom to put on one of her trademark wigs. She told me: 'I answered the door and David stood there saying, 'I want you now!' I told him it was late, but he said he had to have me!" Eddy said Tina later recalled the wild night for him. "You know, I've never been attracted to David, but I'll tell you what, it wasn't bad. Afterwards, he went to take a shower and I lay there in bed thinking, 'I can't believe I just did that!' Then Tina started laughing and added: 'I heard the shower water stop, then two minutes later he walks out, stark naked, wearing that great wig you just made me! He started singing "Rolling On The River" and was dancing like me and shaking like a tail feather. I was curled up on the bed in stitches. Imagine that!'"

The gender-bending rocker once kept a fur-covered bed nicknamed “The Pit” in his London living room as the center of wild orgies! The National ENQUIRER learned the explosive details from author Wendy Leigh, who reported: “Angie [Barnett, Bowie’s first wife] and David used to have the most amazing orgies at Oakley Street. Everybody f--ked everybody in the pit!" The bed was four feet deep, and it held plenty of other rock legends. "Mick Jagger used to come there and be involved in sexual things," an insider told Wendy. She also talked to '50s rock legend Ronnie Spector, who told her that she was ushered through Bowie’s suite at The Plaza in New York City in 1976, passing a coffee table covered with cocaine, and into the bedroom, where Bowie awaited — stark naked!

That "sexual stuff" with Mick Jagger reportedly included some gay play! The ENQUIRER had the scoop when longtime pals went public about David Bowie and Mick Jagger's longtime love affair with each other! Rock writer Christopher Andersen talked to Angie Bowie about how close her husband got to the Rolling Stones frontman just a few months after they first met in 1973. "Angie had been out of town for a few days," wrote Andersen, "when she returned home one morning and went straight to the kitchen to make some tea. The Bowies’ maid, who had arrived about an hour earlier, approached the lady of the house with a peculiar look on her face. 'Someone,' she told Angie, 'is in your bed.' Angie went upstairs to her bedroom, slowly pushed the door open, and there they were: Mick Jagger and David Bowie, naked in bed together, sleeping. Both men woke up with a start. 'Oh, hello,' said Bowie, clearly taken by surprise. 'How are you?'" Angie later told the story to Howard Stern, and Andersen talked to another Bowie insider who backed up her story. "Ava Cherry," wrote Andersen, "a backup singer who lived with the Bowies for a time, reportedly told a friend that 'Mick and David were really sexually obsessed with each other. Even though I was in bed with them many times, I ended up just watching them have sex.'"

Madonna was quick to post on social media that she was "devastated" by the death of David — and the dance diva, who inducted him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, also declared that David was "unique," a "genius," and "a game changer" with a "spirit that lives forever!" But The ENQUIRER remembers the night when young Madonna was just starting to break out big and found herself invited to a party at Yoko Ono's apartment. An insider reported: "She wandered into the kitchen where Bob Dylan and David Bowie were talking. When she returned to the living room, she blurted: 'Thank God there's somebody here to talk to — there are only old folks in the kitchen!'"

The ENQUIRER was there when Melissa McCarthy let slip a secret about her "Tammy" costar Susan Sarandon while promoting the movie in 2013 — the older actress had bedded David Bowie while they were shooting a vampire film in 1983! Melissa, who played Susan’s granddaughter in “Tammy,” was presenting Saran­don with an award when she said: “Susan is so cool — I mean, she dated David Bowie!” A source filled in The ENQUIRER on how Susan and David, both 37 at the time, dated briefly when they filmed “The Hunger.” “It was a long, long time ago when Su­san and David were both young, carefree and single,” said the insider. “She has fond memories of the love af­fair, but throughout the years she’s kept it private. Melissa and Susan have become re­ally close friends, and that’s how Melissa knew about it. Melissa feels terrible — she had no idea that Susan and David’s rela­tionship wasn’t public knowledge!”

Life got weird than rock 'n roll for David in 2004, when a New York City police detective was fired for taking naked pictures of his stepdaughter after she was sexually assaulted. Stacia Lipka is a model and the daughter of Bowie's ex-wife Angela. Detective Richard Vecchio, a father of five, was booted out of the NYPD after he was caught with a set of 15 nude photos that he'd taken of Stacia in 2003 from her hospital room after she had been raped. The creepy detective said in court that he had kept the photos for "safekeeping," and that Stacia had later tried to seduce him. Vecchio was found not guilty of criminal charges, but was convicted at a departmental trial and then fired.

David Bowie was only 57years old when The ENQUIRER revealed how the rocker had needed heart surgery in 2004. David, who had a long history of drug abuse and a three-pack-a-day cigarette habit, originally complained of a pinched nerve in his neck while on a 2004 tour of Europe. But docs discovered it was really a blocked heart artery! Bowie underwent an angioplasty, which clears the blockage, and a stent was inserted in the affected artery to keep it open. Wendy Leigh also revealed that David was reluctant to tell his supermodel wife about his affliction. “Until the operation was over and a success," wrote Leigh, "he said nothing to Iman, and she only heard the news four hours afterward!”
