Best that it didn’t work out! X Factor champ Matt Cardle and Meghan Markle could’ve been an item!
“Matt followed Meghan initially in early 2015 because he thought she was a beautiful star from Suits,” an insider dished to The Sun. “But he was stunned when she followed him back and and started messaging him. She said she was a big fan of his work.”
The insider added that the West End performer, who had the lead in the musical Memphis, was flattered and that the two chatted online via social media before the actress, who had split from husband Trevor Engelson, suggested meeting in person.
But the timing turned out to be bad — or good, depending on how you look at it! Cardle, 36, had started dating his current girlfriend, Amber Hernaman.
“But then he met his girlfriend and knew it wasn’t appropriate to keep talking to Meghan,” the insider snitched, “so he ended up ghosting her.”
Markle, 37, of course, married Prince Harry in May 2018, and welcomed their first child, son Archie, together in a year later. The season 7 X Factor champ is still with Hernaman.
