It’s getting really ugly between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The actor filed a new declaration on Monday, May 20, to support his $50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife, and in it, he again denies her allegations of abuse, but also accuses her of being the abuser who faked her own injuries and tormented him in various ways — including leaving feces in his bed.
“I have denied Ms. Heard’s allegations vehemently since she first made them in May 2016, when she first walked into a court to obtain a temporary restraining order with painted-on bruises that witnesses and surveillance footage show she did not possess each day of the preceding week,” he states in his declaration, which was obtained by The Blast. “I will continue to deny them for the rest of my life. I never abused Ms. Heard or any other woman.”
The Fantastic Beasts star also went into detail about the alleged abuse he suffered at her hands. “There was actual, documented domestic violence in our relationship: She was the perpetrator, and I was the victim,” he claims, alleging she was mixing amphetamines and non-prescription drugs with booze. “Ms. Heard committed innumerable acts of domestic violence against me … which in some instances caused me serious bodily injury.”
The 55-year-old claims that some of the alleged abuse he suffered at the hands of his wife of 15 months included punches, kicks, and having items thrown at him. He submitted several photos of his blackened eyes and scratches.
There was also an alleged incident that disgusted Depp. “After I removed myself from Ms. Heard’s presence in the penthouse on April 21, 2016, the following morning Ms. Heard or one of her friends defecated in my bed as some sort of a sick prank,” his declaration claims. According to The Blast, the actor also claimed that Heard fessed up to their estate manager “that the feces was ‘just a harmless prank.’”
The Aquaman star’s lawyer, Eric George, called the latest actions by Depp “increasingly desperate attempts … to revive his career.” He said, “The evidence in this case is clear: Johnny Depp repeatedly beat Amber Heard. … In light of the important work done by the #TimesUp movement highlighting the tactics abusers use to continue to traumatize survivors, neither the creative community nor the public will be gaslit by Mr. Depp’s baseless blame-the-victim conspiracy theories.”
But the actor’s lawyer insisted in a statement to USA Today that the declaration is “packed with new evidence that utterly destroys each of Amber Heard’s abuse hoaxes and shows she is a serial abuser of men and women who uses fraud to get what she wants.”
Depp filed the defamation lawsuit March 1 in response to a piece she wrote in The Washington Post in December 2018. In it, she claims that she lost an acting job and fashion contract because she spoke publicly about the alleged abuse she suffered, though she did not name Depp in the piece. The actor claims her piece caused him to lose his role as Capt. Jack Sparrow in an upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean film, and that he suffered other financial losses.
There is no date set yet for a hearing.
