Whitney Houston — Her Greatest Lesbian Love Of All

Bobby Brown is ready to tell all in his upcoming book "Every Little Step" — including the pop star's intimate confession that his wife Whitney Houston had a lesbian affair with longtime friend Robyn Crawford! Tragically, Bobby believes that the closeted bisexual diva wouldn't have suffered from drug addiction if the two had come out as a couple. “I really feel that if Robyn was accepted into Whitney’s life, Whitney would still be alive today,” Bobby said. But the truth about Whitney's greatest love of all was never a secret to readers of The National ENQUIRER!

The ENQUIRER was alerted to rumors about Whitney's sexuality in 1988, when  she was allegedly involved in a love triangle with both Kelly McGillis and Jodie Foster. The two actresses had recently starred in the hit film "The Accused," and both would later come out to the public as lesbians.

The ENQUIRER also learned that Whitney was alleged to be very close to her longtime friend and personal assistant Robyn. The couple — who had met in East Orange, NJ, when they were both 16 — had a difficult time hiding their affection in public.

Whitney and Robyn seemingly weren't able to cover up their secret romance, however. Top-secret FBI files unearthed by The ENQUIRER showed that Whitney had to deal with an extortion plot at one point in her career — with blackmailers threatening to reveal that the songstress was in a lesbian relationship!

The other woman was unidentified in the files, but the extortionists promised to “reveal certain details” about Whitney’s “romantic relationships” unless she paid $100,000. The files showed that the blackmailers then upped the ante to $250,000, and offered a confidentiality agreement. The investigation stopped when Whitney paid an undisclosed amount.

Sadly, as Bobby said, Whitney and Robyn were never supported by the star's family — many of whom are veteran figures in gospel music. The ENQUIRER reported that one angry relative had blamed Whitney's drug binges on her affairs with women. Robyn, however, fought to keep Whitney clean and sober. The ENQUIRER revealed how Robyn had returned to Whitney after her marriage to Bobby — when the husband was in jail on drug charges. "Robyn could sense that Whitney was in a lot of trouble," said an insider.

Whitney's parents, however, were determined to keep the two apart. Robyn had returned to her drug-crazed friend despite an earlier tearful breakup over her drug use. "Robyn was simply fed up with having to clean up the messes that Whitney left," said an insider. The ENQUIRER revealed how the couple broke up for good after a failed intervention. "Robyn yelled at her, 'I can't just sit by and watch you kill yourself,'" said a source.

Whitney Houston died in a Beverly Hills hotel on February 11, 2012, with a "cocktail" of drugs in her system. A year after her death, Whitney's mother, gospel icon Cissy Houston, was still seething over Whitney's relationship with Robyn. The ENQUIRER revealed that Cissy had written a book — "Remembering Whitney: My Story of Love, Loss, and the Night the Music Stopped" — where the mourning mother admitted her resentment toward Robyn.

"I had a bad feeling about that child from the first time I saw her," Cissy wrote."There was something about the way she carried herself, a kind of arrogance, that I didn't like."

A close friend added that Cissy "did everything in her power to stop" the relationship between Whitney and Robyn. The insider also blamed Cissy for Whitney being forced to marry bad-boy Bobby Brown in 1992, with the couple eventually making headlines for their drug use. Tragically, their daughter — Bobbi Kristina Brown — would later die after enduring her own drug addictions.

As recently as 2013, Cissy told Oprah Winfrey that she would have “absolutely” been bothered to learn Whitney was gay, and declared that she would never condone her daughter being in a gay relationship.

Robyn (seen here in 2012) later wrote a touching tribute to Whitney for Esquire magazine — declaring that her longtime friend "looked like an angel."
