Sinead O’Connor Suicide Drama
Sinead O'Connor told alarmed fans she'd "taken an overdose" in a shocking public suicide note! The controversial pop star — who topped U.S. charts with "Nothing Compares With U" in 1990 — is now better known for her troubled personal life. But fans never suspected that Sinead was ready to kill herself via social media!
"This week has broken me," wrote Sinead on Facebook, after several other posts about her recent court fight for visitation rights to see her youngest son. "The last two nights have finished me off. I have taken an overdose. There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I'm at a hotel, somewhere in Ireland, under another name."
Worried fans contacted authorities, and police have announced that Sinead has since been found "safe and sound" — although authorities also say that she is receiving medical assistance. "Apparently, I'm scum," Sinead had written, "and deserve to be abandoned and treated like s--t even when I've had my womb and ovaries chopped out and my child is frighteningly sick."
The singer had announced in October that she would be having a hysterectomy, and canceled a tour this past summer, saying: "My child has been suffering with a life-threatening medical condition since March 2015." The 48-year-old mother of four — who once famously tore up a photo of Pope John Paul II during an appearance on "Saturday Night Live" — also recently announced that she was retiring from performing.
