The police in Rio de Janeiro say that Ryan — along with Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and Jimmy Feigen — was involved in an altercation at a gas station with a Brazilian security guard. The swimming champ had previously claimed that his wallet was stolen by robbers dressed as police when the swimmers had stopped at the gas station to use the bathroom.

Detectives in Rio say that the gas station had a video camera that recorded the swimmers getting into a fight. Matt Lauer — who did a phone interview with Ryan — later reported that the swimmer has "softened" his version of events. That includes a gun now being "pointed in [his] direction" instead of being held to his head.

Bentz and Conger (pictured, left to right) were on a plane ready to fly out of Brazil when cops announced they weren't allowed to leave. Feigen was also set to leave on Wednesday, but skipped his flight. This has become an international incident, too, with the swimmers having given statements to the FBI, State Department, and the local police!
