Princess Diana’s Doomed Love With Her Bodyguard

Princess Diana — with Camilla Parker Bowles haunting her marriage — turned to her personal bodyguard for comfort!  

The rejected beauty's confession of falling “deeply in love” with Barry Mannakee is among several shocking revelations The National ENQUIRER gleaned from dramatic tell-all tapes the Princess recorded with her voice coach  — released to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death.

Although Diana stubbornly insisted the two were never sexually intimate, after rumors of their romance swept through Buckingham Palace, Mannakee got the boot.

Tragically, the married father of two died in a motorcycle accident shortly after being moved off Diana’s protection squad in 1987. But in remarkably candid conversations with her speech coach, Diana believed Mannakee was “bumped off” over their romance!

“When I was 24 or 25, I fell deeply in love with someone who worked in this environment,” Diana confesses. “I was quite happy to give it all up … just to go off and live with him. And he kept saying he thought it was a good idea, too.”

Diana and Mannakee, shown here with Prince William, became close in 1985 — after Prince Harry was born. “It was found out and he was chucked out and then he was killed and that was the biggest blow of my life, which I don’t find easy to discuss,” Di says on the tape.

“[Prince] Charles thought he knew but never had any proof. I should never have played with fire, and I did, and I got very burned.”
